"Flag Submission" button needs to be moved AWAY from the Download button
In its current spot, the "Flag Submission" button is far too close to the Download button on large touchscreen devices that use the larger-sized layout. My Surface Pro 3, for example, uses a 1080p resolution that makes it easy to fat-finger either one.
Perhaps it would be best moved to the bottom of the artist description pane, rather than the top of it where the viewer controls are.
Add a 'hot' post option to Fresh and Popular
I think an additional function is needed in order to make content viewing more interesting, and popularization more fair. At the moment, the 'fresh' section shows ALL the content being uploaded to the site, and the 'popular' section, even with the seven-day modification, is filled with the same images for an entire week. These are fine for an overview, but not for a 'live' understanding of what's being posted and enjoyed.
This new function would sort posts by the amount of views, favorites and general engagement they have received over a shorter period of time. A check could be carried out every hour - Posts which have recently gotten the most favourites and engagement would be put at the top of the list, and can then slowly filter down the list as the initial explosion of engagement fades. This puts content that people want to see rapidly in front of more viewers, instead of it struggling to overcome the existing popular content on the front page.
This is how Imgur functions by default, and what Reddit does with its 'hot' system and it works very well to give posts fair exposure, before allowing new ones to push through. It means posts don't have to reach that huge level of favourites to be seen; they just have to be getting a good amount of engagement overall.
This could even replace the Popular functionality entirely. People want to see what is popular at the time versus what has been popular for the last week - They come to the site daily to see fresh content that's also quality, right? For this reason I would suggest that this could even be the default view.
Explain Content Settings
I would like to see some explination of the content settings in the content settings page. For example, what is an "interest" tag going to do? If I put the word "Dragon" in it, is the site going to show everything tagged Dragon tome regardless of who I'm watching or not? Or what? What's the difference between blocking and muting too? You should explain these all on the content settings page for other people who may not know what these things do.
Going from artist page back to search, keep my place in the scroll
I have just started coming on the site, and one thing I noticed is when scrolling through artists it 1. takes quite long to load and 2. when I click on an artist and then go back to the search it always starts me at the very top so I have to take all that time to scroll back down to where I was. Can you fix it so you go back to the same place in the list?
allow notifications for promotes/follows on profile to be turned off
When you look at someones profile (like mine), often the first thing you see is a long list of follows and promotes. It would be good to turn it off so that all you see is posted contact (art, photos, etc)
Profiles have undergone significant changes. At this point, the main profile can be used to display content you want, and users' Activity History shows promotes and follows. This will hopefully make the profile more useful for most users.
Privacy Policy and T.O.S. policy?
As much as I can appreciate the early stages of this site having an A.U.P. (Acceptable Upload Policy) and a C.O.C (Code of Conduct) for the benefit of the users I am curious if there is a P.P. (Privacy Policy) or a site wide T.O.S. (Terms Of Service) is in development to cover the administration side of this site? Thank you for your time.
How about we don't censor any content?
If you don't like some certain type of content, FurryNetwork has a tag blocker.
I personally feel that you can't censor some kinks/tags just because you don't feel comfortable with them.
Someone uncomfortable with cubs? Banned. Someone uncomfortable with watersports? Banned. Musk? Banned. This ends nowhere, damages everything and for what purpose? Exactly.
If you are really fragile to some content- again, you can block it for yourself. Don't ruin others days because of it. Also- drawn cub is in most countries not illegal since you can't put an age on a drawing.
I'm not talking about the owners of the site. Their personal life has nothing to do with running an art site.
I know it's not really an idea- but I post this since I'd hate to see a site get ruined by SJWs and hope that there are others who share this idea.
Hey all -
The underlying issue raised in the original post ("People should be able to block content they don't like") is covered in our Blacklist functionality (which is working right now), and by the Default Blacklist feature request, covered here: https://support.furrynetwork.com/topics/872-default-blacklist-for-squicky-content/ ).
Given the fact this isn't really an idea, more an inflammatory statement of opinion, I'll be closing this as 'completed' (as we have blacklists implemented).
What's New on Mobile Now Not Displaying Xs for Removing Alerts
In my What's New section on mobile, I had Xs in the right-hand corner of each submission so I could remove it once I had seen it. This is now not displaying and I have no way of clearing these. This means that after a while the site will stop loading new ones due to the amount already loaded and I can't see older content. Possibly an update side-effect?
Using an updated Chrome browser on an Android 'phone. Issue is new, this option worked twelve hours ago (before the maintenance).
Change the theme for import?
I cant' seem to find the place to change FN from Beta mode to Classic so I can import everything. The only settings I see on the site is my account settings. I see no settings or control panel.
The theme the importer is indicating is actually the one you use on Fur Affinity.
You can change it to Classic in Account Settings on Fur Affinity.
A 'Fav & Delete' button in What's New
As the title says, some of us like to delete entries in our What's New after we favourite them.
Would be nice if there's a button that does both!
Thank you for the suggestion. While I do think it would be helpful for some, it would also be a bit frustrating for others; accidentally clicking "Fav & Delete" would probably happen a good amount, and it'd be easy to confuse that with just favoriting. Accidentally deleting can't be undone, but if you miss deleting something, it's very easy to bring it back.
For now, we're going to keep it the way it is. If a large part of the community would like a "Fav & Delete" button in the future, we can revisit this.
