Remove useless imported tags

Neotheta 9 years ago updated by Vas 9 years ago 3

Some imported tags are ridiculous and clutter the place, such as: unspecified-any, all, any, general-furry-art. They serve no purpose here in FN yet appear as the most popular tags...

The tag system here could be great if it was kept relevant and taken care about c:

Duplicate/superfluous updates on What's New

Sebin Nyshkim 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 2

I noticed that there's many updates repeating over and over and not really having much use after a specific action has already taken place, i.e. "X is now following Y" where X is always a different user and Y is always the same user. I don't feel like it's a bug but superfluous information for me when I'm already watching Y, it doesn't really add any more infomative value other than someone else is now following someone I'm already following. Same with multiple promoted artworks or posts from other users that received comments. Maybe there is a way to reduce these into a single timeline object so it only displays once.

Answer

We are looking into grouping notification and updates for the Activity History feed. Depending on the level of complexity, it may come before or after launch.

Being able to send submissions via private message

AdalwinAmillion 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 4

It would be quite nice to see a function like that!

One could basically show around submissions one has found to friends and discuss it. Maybe even a function to promote/favourize the submission within the messenger!

mobile menu hides some buttons

Pizza Wolf 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 1

character info + field button is overlaid by the bottom mobile menu. Should be an easy fix to readjust the location of the button or extend the bottom of the pages on mobile.

Answer

The layout has changed, and from what I can see, this is no longer an issue.

Full-Image Thumbnail Mode and two-column setup.

Adam Primaeros 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 2

I'd appreciate Furry Network incorporating a mode (switchable in main settings perhaps) where I can see full-image thumbnails with a two-column setup instead.

E.g. mock-up by me:

Image 37

The cropped-banner preview is keeping me away from using FN more than I honestly want to, though I can't say if enough people share the sentiment. (I'm on laptop a lot, typical widescreen ratio.) I was one of the people glad Weasyl moved towards full-image thumbnails rather than forced square cropped.

Answer

At this point, the issue has been addressed in Neotheta's thread. We're always open to additional changes in the future, so if there are other ideas, feel free to submit a new ticket.

Full Sized Thumbnails in Gallery

Pop*Candy Penguin 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 1

Out of all galleries so far, Weasyl has my favorite gallery setup with it's full-sized thumbnails all laid together. It's more aesthetically pleasing to me!

Answer

The layout has significantly changed over the months. At this point, we have a set of tiles all grouped together on the home screen. In general, this is easy to view, and it should be quick to browse through the submissions.

"Unlisted" vs "Privacy"

Twelve 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 2

I can't help noticing that the Unlisted option when submitting a piece of art is a little useless. It's about the same as a Draft because once something is unlisted it cannot be accessed outside of the submission management areas of a user's account. I'm assuming from the name of that feature, Unlisted, that the idea is to have a link that you can use to share unlisted works with people of your choosing without allowing those works to be publicly visible.

If that's the case, how about a "Privacy" feature instead? Rather than a whole section of work that is identical in function to the Drafts, allow users to choose between uploading their submissions privately, only for their own eyes; or only allowing users with a link to the submission to view it; or only showing the submission to non-followers, etc.

Answer

Unlisted submissions now work. When managing submissions, if you choose the "Unlisted" category and hover over an image, a link icon will appear. Click that, and it will take you to a page with a shareable link. Just copy the URL in the browser, and you can share it with whoever you like.

Keyboard shortcuts

Unimpressive 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 1

Using keyboard shortcuts to browse through someone's artwork is really smooth and breezy and welcome. What do you guys think about adding shortcuts to display submission descriptions/comment threads from that view? I'm thinking use the up and down arrow keys to pull up an overlay, scroll through, and hide it again.

a section in or a tag for furry businesses

pyrus 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 2

Would like to see an option for businesses along with popular and fresh collections in the community search for those that would like to follow their favorite fursuit maker or what not.

description of submission goes off screen

CRISS 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 3

A cut screenshot for example:

this pretty much shows the problem, but for a meaningful description:

This is a text description from what I guess (and do check to see if I'm wrong) an imported piece, and I'm guessing that by the text format which seems to be different from other pieces.

The text seems to be "leaking" outside of the boundary of the display area instead of breaking into a new row.

Answer

As it turns out, this is because the submission description begins and ends with three tilde marks (~~~). This changes the formatting. I've let the uploader know, and they are welcome to change the description to fix this issue.
