Story Text Space Capacity

moyomongoose 9 years ago 0

It would be nice if the text space capacity could be longer for stories. A long story here has to be broken up into several smaller ones.

longer images in the post without make them smaller?

glittertrapboy 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 1

it would be cool if the post can be bigger(longer) as the image instead fo reduce the image and let that black frame on the sides. It would be prettier

Flash Multimedia Goes Beyond Borders

Gameroo 9 years ago updated 9 years ago 2

I'm not sure if it's something to do with my version of flash (CS5) and how it handles producing .swf files, but I'm hitting an issue when the contents of a .swf go beyond the defined size of the file. Usually the multimedia file's size on the page is determined by the metadata in the .swf itself (I think), and elements that roll over the defined size are essentially hidden. Usually it looks like this:

http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19000371/

What's happening to the identical file when I upload it here, is that the flash .swf size seems to be set to fill the available area, instead of cutting it off or scaling the dimensions of the file itself. What I get is something like this.

https://beta.furrynetwork.com/multimedia/1852/and-pose/

Which, again, is the same file that I had uploaded prior to FA. Now, I know there's a few things on my end that I can do, like make my own border around the animation, but I'm not positive that's a good long-term solution. I've tried that here,

https://beta.furrynetwork.com/multimedia/2059/additional-training/

But if you scale the window down, it'll once again show the white background (which is the default flash stage background).

I think that this issue is specific to .swf files that come straight from flash itself - so while it's not a major bug that will affect a lot of people, I think that a fix should be pretty straightforward. Thanks for looking. ^^

Shared/Team Characters

ionorca 9 years ago 0

For teams, especially in the case of fursuit-makers, it would be beneficial to allow for shared profiles.

The current solution would be to make multiple site accounts and share credentials.

With FN's awesome character-switching functionality though, maybe it would be possible to allow for shared/team characters/profiles?

Pending Actions

Vas 9 years ago updated 9 years ago 0

I've been having some issues with the site not properly favoriting or deleting an item from the list of "Whats New", and having to click "favorite" or "X" multiple times to get it to do something, sometimes it turns pink but didn't actually do anything, while X doesn't actually delete because it loads the image again when I scroll down to load more (by the way, clicking load more does n work, you require scrolling down).

So I made some image examples of what you can do to show that the site is verifying your action before it changes to the next state;

Image 210 - Now, when you click Delete, this starts happening. When the site verifies that it has been deleted from your list, t will delete the image from your list. Perhaps you can collapse the image into a single line which just shows the title and artist and says "removing from list" with that icon at the end. If it fails, it turns red and lets you click to try again.

Image 211 - Now, when you click Favorite, this starts happening.

Image 212 - And this happens after the site verifies the favorite was successful.

Image 213 - Now, when you click Promote, this starts happening.

Image 214 - And this happens after the site verifies the promote was successful.

I took the liberty of providing these in aPNG format as well just to show off Animated PNGs, however the site apparently does not support aPNG, because it re-encoded the aPNG thatI uploaded and deleted the frames I added...

You can see all the source project files here however which includes the aPNG versions!

Fix Auto Login

Jester 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 2

My problem is this.

I use a password manager because I can create a new password on the fly & save my accounts for every website (similar to last pass / chrome / firefox login saves)

what I don't like is having to MANUALLY re type my email & password EVERY TIME I want to log in to this site because suddenly my email and password are invalid whenever I attempt to use the auto fill feature. Please fix this

Are user added tags prone to abuse/trolls?

Sebin Nyshkim 9 years ago updated 9 years ago 4

I couldn't find any information on this on the about pages and no similar questions on this topic on the support pages here either and it's been on my mind for some time now.

Is there a system in place to prevent abusive users (e.g. trolls) from adding tags to someone else's submissions that simply are false in regards to the actual submission content or just to annoy other users?

Answer
Varka (Spokesdragon) 9 years ago

Yep - there is. It's the section titled "Abuse of site tools" in the Code of Conduct: https://about.furrynetwork.com/code-of-conduct-2/#abuseofsitetools

This means we can take administrative action against users who abuse the site tools (eg, the 'community tags' tool) to suggest inappropriate tags or harass other users.

Depending on how prevalent the issue becomes, it might be necessary to implement some kinds of requirements to be able to suggest tags via that method - but I think that's best tackled when we encounter the issue first hand.

Good suggestions on how we could do this though!

Create random browsing for all categories.

Karo_Zagorus 9 years ago updated by Rykomi (Support Admin) 9 years ago 1

By randomizing we can increase the chances that new artists or others whom are trying to open up get noticed more easier and faster. Some users have problems going all the way down in the scrolling screen to find artists, therefore some might go entirely unnoticed.

Limit the number of times promotions can be given or removed on submissions.

Karo_Zagorus 9 years ago 0

Because the promotion system is prone to unintended artificial usage.

Add a whitelist feature to the blacklist.

Vas 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 2

I did a quick search to see if white list or whitelist existed in the topics here already and didn't see any. Basically, I want a white list feature as well. For example, I block #ych because I hate seeing them, but I also have the word "complete" white listed so thaif someone posts a YCH Completed thing, I can still see it. This can be used for other things other than just YCH related stuff, of course.

Basically I'm suggesting that if there is a tag you white listed in the item that contains a blacklisted tag, show it anyway. Users should not white list something generic however. If someone blacklists #diaper, then they shouldn't also whitelist some generic tag that might make that black listed tag useless.

In an example, I'd ask users who do the whole FA YCH crap here, to tag completed YCHs as #completedych, or something similar, and I'd whitelist that. The only example I can think of really, the FA script I use checks titles, not tags.

Answer

While I understand the intention for this request, it seems like it could make things overly complicated for tagging. Something that may be easier is to just blacklist a tag for open YCH (#ych-open, for example); that way, you are only blocking any new auctions and completed items show up.

Either way, the biggest problem with certain things is that you'd also need to get artists to agree to a tag. It may be just as hard to get artists to consistently use "#ych-open" as it is using "#ych-completed" or "#ych-result." I don't think it would be right to create a rule for tags with most content, though, so it would largely be up to the community to decide how to tag. With that said, good tagging would be the best way to resolve this issue.
