Disable double-click selection (CSS -*-user-select: none) on most non-text items.

Kurin 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 2
It'd be nice to make it so double-clicking (happens a lot when removing items from feeds quickly) didn't select stuff. This can be done with CSS:

.no_selection {
-webkit-user-select: none;
-moz-user-select: none;
-khtml-user-select: none;
-ms-user-select: none;
}

Refresh Button for New Notifications

Oreo ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 1

Maybe have the page notify you that new notifications are available and allow a refresh to see them.

Answer

With some redesign, the site now will pop up a notification at the top right of the page to show that you have something new. For now, you will need to click on the drop down menu to see them. I can understand the benefit of the notification page having a live update type feed similar to Twitter; however, this would be a large amount of development without being very useful for users. For now, we aren't going to plan on this, but we could take another look in the future.

Refining or group delete "What's new"

Sonic Wolfe 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 1

I would like to suggest to add following functions in addition to the "Clear all" button

1. Delete new submission notification from particular artist, or delete all but the latest one from one specific artist.

2. Delete new submission notification older than several weeks/ months/ years.

Answer

I can see the benefit of having these other functions, but it would also add on a layer of complication; we'd rather keep this function straightforward so it's not confusing to users.

Submission guide / text parsing macros

Sonic Wolfe 9 years ago 0

I am wondering if FN can do "text parsing macros" in description and journals like FA.

For example:

embed YouTube videos,

show another members icon and names in Description

and <<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>> buttons for comic / picture series.

If yes, please add a guide and link at somewhere easy to find when uploading for easier navigation. (Such as in Manage Submissions )

"Importer" Function immediately fails

KrossBreeder 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 2

As of today, whenever I try the Importer function, it immediately fails, with the message:

"Login failed. Please retry"

I am confident that the (new) password and captcha are correct. Though the importer is trying to use my full email address rather than just my fursona name to log in... Perhaps that's the issue? I cannot change this, however. The "username" is locked as the full email address.

Any thoughts?

Move Clear All confirmation closer to the button

I suggest moving the Clear All confirmation buttons closer to the original button. Currently, if you have FN open in a large (or even full screen) window, you have to move quite far across the page and it is not very intuitive. I suggest doing something like this:

Answer

There hasn't been a huge demand for a change here. Having some separation gives users a chance to realize if they clicked it on accident. We're going to keep it the way it is for the time being.

verification email

Fenreon 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 2

How long does it take to get a verification email? I've hit the "resend" button multiple times today and have yet to get an email so I can activate my account.

Answer

The user has logged into Furry Network and uploaded art; it appears that this issue is resolved.

Answer

The layout for thinner screens has significantly changed, and it's much easier to view things on mobile. If there are any other mobile issues, feel free to let us know here.

Text-only submission management mode

Seth T 9 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 8 years ago 1

When accounts have large numbers of imported art pieces, the "endless scrolling" thumbnail mode makes it impractical to scroll all the way back to the start of the queue so it can be made public in order. If at all possible, I think a great way to make this better would be allowing a toggle that will only display the titles of submissions for rapid selection.

As an example, I have completed an import of my entire gallery from another site. In order to make my art public in order I have to scroll through over 3,400 thumbnails. I will also not be able to keep my place when I do so, meaning that every time I start a browsing session I will have to repeat the long scrolling process.

As it turns out I might not have the system memory to actually scroll back and load the art in order.

Answer

The site has undergone some redesign, and scrolling should be easier. Text-only for a mostly visual gallery, however, would likely have very little use. For now, we aren't going to plan to implement a text-only management mode, but we could revisit this if the community wished.

how do I provide information about myself on my profile?

bentproplrprod 9 years ago updated by Uluri 7 years ago 1

Hello. I am new here...when I go to my "view my profile" there's the huge empty space on the left that says "no information provided", but then when I go to edit my profile..how do I enter information in that space?

Answer
Uluri 7 years ago

1. Click Edit Profile
2. Scroll down to "Custom Fields"
3. Click +Add New
4. Fill out Title (Field Lable) and Info (Feild Value) Of whatever information you would want to provide for your profile information.

You can create multiple different fields of information to keep things organized or looking spiffy as well, and also rearange, edit, and delete ones you've already created.
