Better differentiation for follow/following button
This is a smaller issue, but frustrating for me: as someone who is red/green colourblind, the difference between the "Follow" button and the "Following" button is almost impossible to tell--I imagine for someone with worse colourblindness than myself, hovering to read the text may be the only option. Is there some way to choose more easily distinguished colours/shades, or at least remove the plus sign when someone is already being followed?
Answer
Agreed! I am also colorblind and I tried to follow my first person today, but thought the button was broken because I didn't see a change! The only reason I knew was because I hovered for the text. A non-color change in the icon's appearance when following is necessary.
Can confirm, am colorblind, cannot see. I've seen implementations that "remedy" this with some manner of pattern on the backdrop. Unintrusive to the full-sighted, means the world to us. Example.
Agreed! Also either way it should change from a follow button to an unfollow button visibly as well, maybe make it a minus or something, but the color is a big problem, as sometimes I have to click it several times to figure out if i'm following someone
I was actually coming here to post the same suggestion. It seems like a small thing, but it's something that's very frustrating for some of us.
Very much agreed! I'm only slightly red-green colourblind, but it's enough that I have trouble seeing a difference.
Good point - as a colorblind person myself, I too have issues with this button!

I just found this post (https://support.furrynetwork.com/topics/564-text-color-and-website-themes/#) about adding different themes for the site, and thought, combining the issue described here for colorblind people, it would be a good idea to have one theme especially designed to support colorblind users! That way a lot of little details that make things easier for colorblind people can be changed, without affecting the way other users see the site.
I am not really familiar with that whole matter, so I ask you: Would something like this work for colorblind people?
Unfortunately, this is still a problem. I actually think its worse now, I think you guys changed it and made Follow and Following both grey. Now I accidentally unfollow people sometimes. They need to be some kind of color when followed. It can be a grey "follow" button but it should be some other color when its "following" and change to "red" when you're about to click it to "unfollow".
