"character not found"

I've been trying to send a message to one of the artists, but no matter what I input, I get the message "character not found". The entire message is simple text, with one URL which uses only standard characters and the usual URL punctuation. What am I doing wrong?

Fafnir, I'm wondering if this was a temporary bug in the system. I've sent messages to dozens of people without any issues. Are you still having problems? If so, could you send us a screenshot of the page when you try to send this?

Fafnir, to clear out the backlog that we have, I'm going to close this issue; if you are still experiencing this, though, please let us know; screenshots of what you click right before it goes black would definitely help.
