filters: ideas for more filtering options

CRISS 8 years ago updated by Digby (Community Manager) 7 years ago 2

After examining the Artwork page, the only thing I can point out for a downside is the lack of filtering options. These are expected to be in the future and I'm eager to see where FurryNetwork will go with filtering options for artwork, photos, written items and videos.

I'm starting this thread for discussion regarding filters for any and all relevant upload items to see if we can come up with. I'd also like to add to this thread some opinions about how filters should work.

The first ideas that came to my mind are:

- Species: from categories (feline, canine, scalie and so on) to sub-species(wolf, husky, golden retriever, ect.)

- General theme / concept: such as Fantasy, Sci-fi, Modern

- Rating: to be calculated according to number of favoritings and promotions divided by days passed since submission upload (this is just a suggestion of a basic concept for a rating system that needs improvement - discussion regarding this idea is also welcome)

Those are just my thoughts. what are yours? make sure to post your opinions and ideas for filtering options and feel free to expand the discussion. Maybe we can come up with something new and different? who knows?

At this point, people are able to search using tags. The one worry I'd have with filters is that most of that can be done just through solid tagging; it's best to keep that simple.

We do have different time periods for popular sorting, and this is being worked on right now to make it work better.

come up with ideas for filtering options*

Something that just came up: set time period for "Popular" sorting, like last 24 hours/ 7 days / 30 days / year / all-time.
